Open Access Statement

TK TechForum Journal (formerly known as ThyssenKrupp Techforum)

TK TechForum Journal is committed to open scholarship and the broad dissemination of engineering and technology research. We provide immediate, free access to all published content to support global knowledge exchange, innovation, and education.

All articles are available online immediately upon publication, with no subscription fees, pay-per-view charges, or access barriers.

1. Diamond Open Access: no fees for authors or readers

TK TechForum Journal operates under a diamond open access model:

  • no article processing charges (APCs)

  • no submission fees

  • no page or color charges

  • no subscription fees for readers

2. Copyright and licensing (CC BY 4.0)

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.

Under CC BY 4.0:

  • authors retain copyright in their work

  • others may copy, share, and adapt the material for any purpose, including commercial use

  • reuse is permitted provided that proper attribution is given, a link to the license is included, and any changes are indicated

By publishing in TK TechForum Journal, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish, distribute, and archive the article and to identify the journal as the original place of publication.

For full license terms, visit: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

3. Free and immediate access

All published content is freely accessible worldwide immediately upon publication, with no embargo period. Readers may read, download, print, copy, and link to the full text without registration.

4. Self-archiving and repositories

Authors are encouraged to maximize the reach of their work:

  • authors may deposit the preprint, accepted manuscript, and/or the final published PDF in institutional or subject repositories immediately

  • no embargo period applies

  • when sharing the final published version, authors should include the article citation and DOI (if available) and retain the CC BY 4.0 statement

5. Preprints

Posting a manuscript as a preprint does not constitute prior publication and does not prevent submission. Authors may share preprints before submission, during review, and after publication. After publication, authors are encouraged to update the preprint record with a link/DOI to the final version.

6. Text and data mining and reuse

Because articles are licensed under CC BY 4.0:

  • text and data mining (TDM) is permitted without additional permission, with appropriate attribution

  • educators and practitioners may reuse content in teaching, reports, guidelines, and professional materials with proper credit

  • translations and other derivative works are permitted when correctly attributed and changes are indicated

7. Third-party material

Third-party content included in an article (e.g., copyrighted figures or images) may not be covered by the article’s CC BY 4.0 license unless explicitly stated. Authors are responsible for obtaining any required permissions and providing proper credit lines.
